Robert Maddox Jr

Robert Allan Maddox Jr – In Loving Memory On the evening of October 31, 2019, Rob Maddox of Nashville went to be with the Lord at the young age of 50, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. At the moment of his passing, in his home, Rob was blessed to be in the loving arms of his wife who dedicated herself to being the primary caregiver during this challenging last year. Rob took his illness in stride and was courageous and determined in "trying to beat this", with traditional and newer experimental treatments. Rob was born to Robert and Brenda Maddox of Kingsport in 1969. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1987 and East Tennessee State University in 1994. Rob had a successful career with Dell Computer Company, and on his own, was a driven businessman and entrepreneur. In October, 2008, he married Leslie Nicholson of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and together they had a son named Brent Allan Maddox, who tragically was only introduced to this world for six hours. Leslie and Rob enjoyed traveling to beautiful locations in America and abroad, and Rob's descriptions of a recent trip to Alaska depicted experiences of profound beauty and impactful moments. A lover of animals, Rob instantly won over the affection of Leslie's dog Sadie and soon after they adopted his best buddy Derby. Zoey is the most recent "fur baby" who refused to leave his side during his last days. Rob Maddox was a family man and always had an unyielding love for friends and he was known by them as being consistent, determined, and unwilling to compromise his values. He was a great advisor as well, and people would listen close when Rob would start a sentence with "Well, here's what you ought to do"! He was unfiltered and never one to mince words... he would tell you how crazy you were to not be wearing a jacket while taking HIS off to comfort you. A lover of music and a passion for beautifying his living spaces, Rob had a knack for deconstructing, then building out each home he owned with an emphasis on function and quality. In the last few years, he took that same passion to his property above Cordell Hull Lake and hand built his own off-the-grid cabin from the ground up, enjoying the fact that it was 4WD access only! His remains will be spread upon that sacred ground of Rob's "Sanctuary". Rob is preceded in death by his mother, Brenda G. Maddox and son Brent A. Maddox. He is survived by his wife, Leslie; his father Robert A. Maddox, Sr., Blountville, TN; sister Yvette M. Buchanan, husband Bryan Buchanan, Kingsport, TN; nieces Katie B. Cogburn, husband Jeff Cogburn, Anderson, SC, and Morgan Buchanan, Kingsport, TN. To celebrate Rob's life, a public memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on November 9, 2019 at Pennington United Methodist Church, 2745 Pennington Bend Rd., Nashville, TN. In honor of Rob Maddox and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 210830, Nashville, TN 37221. www.proverbs1210rescue.org
