Maj. James Hiley Allen, Jr.

James (Jim) Allen passed away suddenly at the age of 92 at Summit Hospital in Hermitage, Tennessee with family by his side. Jim was born to James and Ruby Allen in Venice, California. His family later settled in St. Louis, Missouri, where he grew up, attending Maplewood High School.

He was proud to serve his country in the US Air Force, enlisting during the Korean War then later becoming a pilot. Among his assignments were serving in the Strategic Air Command through the Cold War Era and flying air reconnaissance missions in Vietnam.

Upon leaving the service, he returned to St. Louis, with his wife, Judy, and his children, Jim and Cathy, where he took a position as a computer service engineer with Honeywell. After he fully retired, they enjoyed their backyard pond and garden there for many years.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Allen (nee Calvert); his wife Judith Allen (nee Griese); his son William Allen; his brothers Robert (Patsy) Allen and Jerry Allen; and his sister Alberta (Gordon) Farndale .

He is survived by his daughter Cathy (Jim) Alford; his son Jim (Angie) Allen; his sisters Nettie Sue (Steve) Hale and Linda Swinson; and his granddaughter Crystal Allen, along with many nieces and nephews. 

 A gathering of remembrance is planned for 2pm March 16, 2024 at Maristone of Providence, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee
