Lawrence Childress

b. September 6, 1945

Lawrence Childress was born one of twelve children, born to Bessie and William Childress. Lawrence was born September 6, 1945 in Chicago, IL. where he also attended school at Coleman Public School. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corp. Lawrence served his country proudly until his Honorable Discharge. After returning to Chicago, in 1967, Lawrence married Jarmillia Giles. They had two beautiful children, Lawrence Jr. and Mercea. Later, Jarmilla Giles would precede him as well as his brothers; Benjamin, William Jr., Felton, Samuel, Maurice, Robert and sisters Arnett and Betty Childress. Lawrence leaves behind his loving siblings Irene, Felicia, and Jerome Childress. In 1983, Lawrence, began a life with Dorothy Robinson and her four children; Dennis, James, Roger, and Marquis. For the next 34 years, he was an exceptional husband and stepfather. As husband and wife they attended Lakeshore Christian Church, in Antioch, TN. On the morning of November 4, 2017, Lawrence Childress, went on to shake hands with the Lord. We can only celebrate the life and legacy of our spiritual soldier of Christ. Funeral Services were held at The Lakeshore Christian Church in Antioch, TN on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Graveside Services were held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Il, at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
