Houston Gwynne Draper

Houston Gwynne Draper was born January 18, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee and died March 23, 2024 in Hermitage, Tennessee.  He graduated from Isaac Litton High School and attended Tennessee Tech University. He worked in his father’s hardware store and then as an appliance repair tech for G.E. He also had his own handyman business and worked part-time for Lowe’s after he retired from G.E. He installed thousands of seats at Bridgestone Arena and Neyland Stadium.

 

He loved music and played guitar and piano. He performed at the Grand Ole Opry. He was a Scottish Rite Mason. He enjoyed ham radio. He and Emily were together 11 years and enjoyed traveling together and playing games. He had his own unique sense of humor. They considered themselves soulmates. They attended Hermitage United Methodist Church together.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Beverage Draper.   He is survived by Emily Mooneyham, his significant other. He is also survived by children Dwayn, DeWitt and DeAnna, sister Carol, and two grandsons. 

 

A celebration of life service will be held April 11 at   2 p.m. at Hermitage United Methodist Church. Memorial gifts may be given to Hermitage United Methodist church or a charity of your choice.
